Main Rules
1-> Post as often as possible to stay active, unless you have signed the Away Sheet, your characters can be given to someone else (Note that as the forum becomes more active, this rule may become stricter)
2-> You may only have one account (We need to limit how many characters people have), so if your IP Address is detected on multiple accounts without mod permission, the accounts will all be banned.
3-> Although it is not essential, we'd appreciate it if you use the Spell Check feature, and try to proof-read your posts whenever possible for good grammar. Some people find it easier to type posts in processing applications such as Microsoft Word so you see mistakes as soon as they occur.
4-> Be nice to each other! People don't always get along, but if you have a problem, work it out over PM, or even PM a mod about it if necessary.
5-> You cannot make posts of less than 300 Characters on RP boards, so make sure you make them long enough to give other people something to post to.
6-> The karma system is for Exalting people when they make a post with good role playing skill or Smiting a person who needs to read their post better. Don't abuse it though, excessive smiting is not allowed and if we see you doing it, you may find the mods having fun with your own karma (Yup, we can set it to whatever we want)
7-> You can have threads that take place in the Future, Past or alternate timelines but if you wish to make significant changes to your character's skill set and/or strengths please PM a mod to get it approved first. You don't have to resubmit a whole second application however.
8-> God-Modding is not allowed, there is no such thing as a perfect character, and you cannot always make things go your way. Also, you must NOT write for other people's characters. Only state what your own character does, the only time another character's action can be described in your post is if it is a previous one.
9-> You can be in more than one thread at once, but make sure you don't hold up threads by forgetting to post! Use the bookmark feature if you're going to join lots of threads at a time, you can access your bookmarks by going to your profile.
10-> Villainous activity (e.g. blowing up buildings) is perfectly fine, just be sure to inform a mod so we can monitor things. That's all! There is one restriction however, you must not kill another character without their owner's permission! It wouldn't be fair to the person who put in so much hard work after all!
11-> Please keep any images in your signature to a maximum of 500 pixels wide by 300 pixels tall.
Character Rules
1-> "Canon" characters are characters from the Batman films, comics or characters specifically created for the Rp but serving in important roles, such as mob bosses, politicians and so on.
2->Gotham City Chronicles is a more realistic rendition of the DC Universe, heavily based on the new Batman films, and thus characters in some cases have to be tweaked to accommodate that more realistic tone. When developing your character, it is strongly recommended that you do not just copy and paste their history from Wiki. Instead, you can personalize it a bit, make it more modern and relevant to you!
3 -> Everyone must have strengths and weaknesses, nobody is perfect!
4 -> As GCC is a realistic rp, we aim to try and keep things as "real" as possible. Thusly, while we accept sketches and comic book images as valid for a character's appearance, we do not accept anime and manga, as they do not fit the "style" of the rp.
Power Rules
1-> At this time, there is just one rule about powers. Seeing as this is based on the new Batman films, the Rp is quite realistic. Thusly, characters will have to be grounded, meaning that superpowers, magic powers, supernatural creatures and so forth are not allowed.
However, if you can rationalize a canon from the comics abilities in such a way to make them realistic and to fit in with the tone of the Rp, then they may be allowed.
That's it!
